  8. I've uploaded the current release of Telix, which I obtained from the
  9. Exis BBS this morning, to SIMTEL20.  This release is said to fix several
  10. bugs in the original 3.12 -- including the "save destructive-BS setting",
  11. "scroll-down with 43/50 lines", and "reverse video/clear to end of line"
  12. bugs.

  14. The three files were named TLX312-1.ZIP, TLX312-2.ZIP, and TLX312-3.ZIP.
  15. The current release is still called "3.12".  For whatever reason, the
  16. Exis people did not want to change the version number or the ZIP file
  17. names in any way.  In fact, they even went so far as to reset the ZIP
  18. file dates to 01-Dec-89 03:12:00, even though some of the files con-
  19. tained therein are dated as late as August.  I told one of their people
  20. on the phone that I thought this was an ill-advised decision which would
  21. lead to much confusion, but such is life.  You might want to call Exis
  22. yourself at (416)289-4641 and tell them the same.

  24. Keith Petersen has renamed the files and added an "a" suffix to the version
  25. number to avoid confusion with the older release.  They are now available
  26. from SIMTEL20 as:

  33. All three files were created with the PKZIP "autoverify" option.  I ran
  34. SCAN (67C) on all the files and found no viruses.

  36. The Exis person I spoke with said they were planning to come out with a
  37. "real" new release by the end of this year.

  45. BUGS FIXED
  46.  
  47. 1) Destructive/Non-Destructive Backspace key setting could not be saved.
  48.  
  49. 2) 'frename' script function would move file being renamed to current
  50.    directory, if it was in another directory on the same drive.
  51.  
  52. 3) On a few individual PCs that we know of, Telix's routines to detect
  53.    an enhanced keyboard BIOS think that there is one, when there isn't,
  54.    leading to very strange results. This is more likely caused by
  55.    misbehaving keyboard related resident programs, rather than a Telix
  56.    bug. If the keyboard is thus completely unrecognized by Telix, the
  57.    way to get Telix running is to add the line 'ENHKB=OFF" in the
  58.    TELIX.CNF file (or change the existing line with this parameter).

  60. 4) In ANSI or VT102 mode, the escape code 'ESC [ L', which is used to
  61.    scroll lines down, would sometimes clear the first or first few
  62.    entries in the translate table on systems running in 43 or 50 line
  63.    mode.

  65. 5) The Host Mode Remote Shell did not work properly on some systems. The
  66.    symptom is the shell just exiting as soon as it was entered.

  68. 6) Some time ago code was added to emulate (for conformity) a bug in the
  69.    MS-DOS ANSI.SYS driver in Telix's own ANSI terminal, but the new code
  70.    slightly messed up VT-102 terminal. The ESC[J and ESC[J1 terminal
  71.    escape sequences would reset part of the current line to Gray on
  72.    Black instead of the proper default colors.

  89.   When there is no existing TELIX.CNF file, or when updating from
  90.   Telix 3.11 or earlier, Telix will now turn enhanced keyboard support
  91.   off by default, instead of on as before, to work around problem 3
  92.   above... The option can be toggled on/off in the General Options
  93.   page of the Configuration Menu.
